Shoot the repo man or open a new business?

Each person deals with the challenges of the Great Depression II in different ways. Some react by shooting at the guys repossessing their car.

Others see the employment landscape crumbling around them, and take the initiative to create their own business venture. “Faced with an unemployment rate of 16% for 20- to 24-year-olds, a growing number of recent college and grad-school graduates are launching their own companies.”This push toward entrepreneurship among young people is likely to continue as employers plan to hire 7% fewer graduates from the class of 2010 than they hired from the class of 2009, which saw a nearly 22% drop in hiring from the class before.” Bo Fishback, vice president of entrepreneurship at the Kauffman Foundation, a nonprofit organization that promotes entrepreneurs says “It’s a lot easier to decide to launch your own company when there aren’t a lot of jobs out there.”

The first few articles of this blog from last year suggested the importance of creating a personal business enterprise even if you currently have a regular job. Adding a personal venture can be a huge factor in current financial security, and future success.
